Principles that guide Ananda Living

A public summary of the mission, values, and governance principles guiding Ananda Living Foundation.

Founding note: This page describes the public principles guiding Ananda Living during its founding phase. It is not a legal charter, residency agreement, or substitute for formally approved policies.
Mission

Ananda Living exists to build dignity-first active ageing communities where older adults can live with independence, belonging, purpose, and care.

Vision

Our vision is to create a trusted institutional model for later life in India - one that combines thoughtful community design, transparent governance, and long-term stewardship.

Values

Dignity, transparency, inclusion, evidence, accountability, and respect guide how we design communities, communicate with families, and steward resources.

Operating Principles

We make proportionate claims, distinguish clearly between what is complete and what is proposed, protect resident dignity, and publish policies that help people verify how the institution works.

Technology Philosophy

Technology should support human care, not replace it. Himalaya is intended to help residents, families, and teams stay connected while preserving consent, privacy, and human judgement.

Governance Philosophy

Ananda Living is being built as a Section 8 not-for-profit institution. Governance records, policies, financial practices, and future reporting are intended to make trust verifiable over time.

What this means in practice

  • Resident dignity comes before convenience.
  • Claims must be clear, careful, and verifiable.
  • Policies should outlast individual personalities.
  • Financial stewardship must serve the mission.
  • Technology must remain consent-led and human-centred.
  • Open questions should be named, not hidden.
